NKC African Economics is majority owned by Oxford Economics, the world’s foremost independent global advisory firm. NKC clients will have access to the same insights and analysis that they trust and rely on, that will now be backed by Oxford Economics’ powerful models and analytical framework. The addition of NKC’s team of economists and political analysts to the Oxford Economics group of companies will significantly enhance Oxford Economics’ ability to directly address the needs of investors and companies engaged in Africa expansion through the provision of event-driven alerts, regular newsletters, and reports.
Founded in the Western Cape (South Africa) in 2002, NKC scans the political and macroeconomic conditions of 30 African countries and is able to measure sovereign risk in detail. Our core expertise is our understanding of the continent’s opportunities and pitfalls due to our ability to weigh political and macroeconomic risk. To this end, we have developed our own sovereign risk ratings model, and are able to assess countries not rated by global ratings agencies. Where those ratings are available, we provide comparative ratings.
NKC has extensive access to formal and informal networks and other information sources on the continent. We publish a range of reports designed to directly address the information needs of both, professional investors and senior business decision makers engaged in Africa expansion. These reports span up-to-the-minute alerts and weekly newsletters on the continent to (quarterly and annual) country-specific research studies. Thematic reports and in-depth sector studies are published on a quarterly or annual basis as determined by clients’ requirements.
Research subscribers enjoy continuous access to NKC’s economists, political analysts and econometricians and regularly discuss questions on particular countries with the experts in our team. We work with a large number of JSE-listed firms and market leaders, but also cater to the needs of smaller firms interested in establishing an Africa presence. Our clients consider us the best in the market – a claim supported by our third consecutive win, in 2011, of the Financial Mail's "Ranking the Analysts" survey in the category "Other African Economies and Markets".
NKC is proud of its official status as a Level 3 BEE contributor.
